For the kids
who colour
outside the lines.
Inclusive stories that honour emotions, identity, and every kind of whānau
Five Books -
One Mission
To help every child feel seen, safe, and celebrated.
Pink is Just a Colour is more than a book series — it’s a movement grounded in inclusion, identity, emotions, and whānau.
Designed to support tamariki and the adults who care for them, these stories open the door to brave conversations, classroom connections, and a sense of belonging that every child deserves.

Meet the Creators
Pink is Just a Colour was created by an infant and toddler nutrition expert, best-selling author, international speaker, founder of Badger Publishing, and a diversity advocate with a background in fostering inclusion and identity.
Pink is Just a Colour was born from real questions and big feelings — the ones kids carry but can’t always name.
Our beautiful illustrations have been lovingly created by Maya, a Wellington-based artist and designer with a passion for story-telling.

What happens on days like Mother's Day or Father's Day when classrooms are filled with cards and crafts...
... But not every child has someone those days are meant for?

Helping Tamariki Feel Seen - Together
Curriculum-aligned resources to help spark empathy, identity and belonging in every learning space.
We know the best learning happens when tamariki feel safe to be themselves. That's why each book comes with optional resources for early childhood educators and primary teachers.
From flexible lesson plans to creative classroom prompts, this makes it easy to spark important conversation about identity, emotions and whānau.
Each education bundle is filled with curated teaching tools that align with curriculum outcomes and encourage self-expression, empathy, and critical thinking.

I would have loved to read a book like “This is Me”
when I was younger, it tells a powerful message,
that we all have a right to be who we are and that
we don’t need to hide our light. I know this book
will inspire many young people who read it and give
them the confidence to say “this is me”.
